According to their travel (government ran page), Dominica is "one of the youngest islands in the Caribbean chain." "Dominica was the last of the Caribbean islands to be colonized by Europeans- due chiefly to the fierce resistance of the native Caribs." - Lonely Planet. On November 3, 1978, the island attained its independence from Britain.

Dominica has no neighboring countries, because it is an island.

"The arms have a shield with a blue and a yellow cross, Flanking the shield is an imperial parrot- also known as sisserous (a rare and distinctive birds indigenous to the island.)"- Britannica
